Been playing Doom3 today

got up to communications part and quit. The darkness annoys me, i know its part of the game but that just doesnt work for me and to be honest i thought it was boring. I then got the cheat code for all weapons to try to keep my interest, that lasted about 20 min then i shut it down.

good thing i borroed the disk from a co-worker, he will get them back tomorrow, im not even going to waste 3 blank CD's to copy it.

You need a nice CRT to play it on. LCD doesn't cut it for the darkness. It just looks like a gray, washed out mess.

Duct tape mod is a modification that attached the flashlight to every weapon.

I have a nice ViewSonic CRT monitor.

the thing that annoyed me is the stupid flashlight. I guess they un-invented weapons with flashlights attached to them or the use of nightvision.

There was a downloadable, non-official patch that allowed you to use your gun and the flashlight at the same time - the theory was that it was duct-taped on.

I personally really like D3, and think if anything it was underrated.

Quake 4 is like Doom3 with the darkness problem fixed. Q4 is better in other ways too but that darkness thing with Doom3 was a huge mistake by iD.

Last game that used darkness INTELLIGENTLY was FEAR, IMHO.

pretty much,it was annoying and u just knew what would happen, sh*t just appearing in front or behind u. the pda thing was a stupid way to tell the story. i just quit pretty quick since it wasnt fun
