No, there is no mouse support - but it would be ridiculously too easy with a mouse - the gamepad is what made the game a challenge and fun in my opinion.

Yes there was a thread a couple of weeks back about it. Really it's the lighting most that makes the game look so bad, even compared to the GC and PS2.

I read in a forum that there is a user patch/mod to add mouse support. Personally I'd much rather use it. The game seemed too hard for me on GC because it was so hard to quickly aim so I would get overrun with zombies easily.

But being overrun by zombies is the whole point of the game - Have you never played any of the other RE games? They are all very difficult to aim! The aiming controls are VERY slow for a reason on GC and PS2 and that is the way that is was intended to be played - Using a mouse would make it extremely easy.

Yeah the only thing better about this than the Gamecube version is the AA - The Gamecube version seems to apply no AA at all, but I'd trade them anyday for some high-res textures and some lighting - maybe we'll get to see some HDR.

This game has so much potential on PC - I really hope our USA version gets a total makeover

I bought it and played it for about half an hour on GC....the aiming is ridiculously annoying after playing FPS on PCs for years. I was never great at console shooters anyway, but could do ok. I couldnt tolerate RE4, but wanted to give it a try because it gets such good reviews for GC.

I think i played it twice more after my initial play, but its so awkward I wont be bothering again, and will likely put it up in FS/T next time i accumulate enough stuff to start a thread.

And those screencaps *do* look bad.

I always wondered how they'd convert it to PC. Those screenshots are bad. The controls were done very well on the gamecube controller, and not too difficult to master. When converted to pc, if given all the advanced tech the pc can do, the game difficulty would be an absolute joke.

But with no mouse controls, how do they reproduce the aiming?

WASD/Arrow keys

It just goes to show how much more versatile and accurate a mouse is over a controller in most cases (with the exception of flight/driving sims/sports). Try playing an RTS with a controller.

The way it's done on the gamecube is entirely analog and you have to keep the stick steady in the exact spot to get the accurate shot off. Can't do that with a keyboard.

So what do they do, do you aim with WASD, then you can take your hands off the keys and the aim stays on the spot?

The NA/ Euro versions are getting a graphics patch soon, if rumors are true... ;)

The MouseAim mod is OK but pretty bad. I turn the sensitivity in MouseAim all the way up for highest precision, but it is way too sensitive and fast to aim, so I configred my G5 profile to change DPI on the fly to the lowest value available (400). That's about the best I can get it, but it still feels pretty crappy. Nowhere near as good as native mouse support, but it is joystick emulation so I didn't epect it to be too good.

Might try with my 360 controller.

The graphics are quite bad, but it runs maxed with 4xAA/16xAF fine, and the game is very good otherwise so the graphics don't bother me too much. Most importantly I wish the joystick emulated mouse aiming was better or native mouse support.

People seem to think this is a beta, but it's just the name of the release in Japan. The US release is delayed a few months for whatever reason, and there are rumors it will get patched or fixed to have better lighting, textures, and native mouse support, but I'm not sure where people heard that.

RE4 DVD @ GoGamer.com
I've seen this as well - Not sure what it is though

I'm gonna wait until the full US version is released and hopefully patched until I order anything! - I kept playing biohazard until I got to the cemetery and the textures are SO BAD that I literally cannot play any further...
