I'm not that sure about that. 8800 GT didn't feel to be enough even for 1680X1050 and that was before the release of all these new games ( Fallout 3, Dead Space, BIA and so on). I have the feeling that these games will not work maxed out, AA and everything on an 8800 GT. At 1920X1200, the old GT doesn't have a chance right now.
OP, I would suggest checking some benchmarks with ATi 4870 1gb, Nvidia GTX 260 ( core 216 or not), since those would be my first choices. I upgraded from an exactly 8800 GT card to an 4870 512 mb and it gave me a nice boost in performance.
