I'm usually one of those that support the notion that if you wait for the next big thing you'll end up waiting forever, however, G80/R600 seem to be around the corner (forgive me, I've been outdated for like 6 months now) and Intel looks like its getting the upperhand over AMD with Conroe (Core 2).

So... I'm wondering, I'm planning on building a new computer, around 1000$-1200$, could be a tad bit more if its worth it, what should I look and how much should I wait? (if its a 3 month wait forget it, unless its really damn worth it)

Use common sense when buying. Supply and demand controls the prices, so think ahead and plan your purchases around them. In a few months G80/R600 will be out, as you said. So expect one of two things to happen when they're released:

1. Prices of current generation cards go down, good idea to wait.

2. The next generation cards cost significantly more, so the current generation spikes up to catch the people that don't quite want to payout for the next gen.

You gotta make assumptions for yourself. IMO, the first option will happen. Price spikes are an easy way to lose customers, and ATI and nVidia aren't that dense to risk that.
