been offered slotA athlon, how can I be sure of it

eni have been offered a slotA Athlon by someone I'm not sure about. I wonder if he has been overclocking the chip. how would I tell? if the case is off should I offer him less? if he has removed the casing to overclock with one of those gizmos, could he still have replaced the casing perfectly
 
Once the case has been removed it highly unlikely that he could get it back on without you noticing it. Once you crack open the plastic case, usually one of the metal pins holding it together will snap off the plastic retainer inside the case. That has been the case with everyone that I have removed. So in my infinite wisdom (LOL), if the case has been removed, then it has been overclocked...on the bright side...the chip will run alot cooler with the case removed.
