Over roughly the last two weeks, I've been noticing that when I post a reply to a message/thread(generally in the DC forum), I get an error related to a page that doesn't seem to be available or is not pointed correctly:

http://subscriber.anandtech.com/messagepost.cfm

HTTP 400 - Bad Request. The page cannot be found.

The reply does make into the forums, I just need to use the Back button a couple times with Refresh to see the change.

I've been seeing this at work(IE5.5sp2) and at home(IE6.0) - have cleared cache, cookies, etc. I'm a Subscriber too. Not a really big deal, just annoying.. any ideas on a solution?

No problems here, until we see something, there isn't anything we can do.

I hit reply on the messge posted by min, no problem at all.

It would really be next to impossible for it to be a forum issue, as code hasn't changed in months, so if this is sporatic or a recent issue im betting client end or something inbetween dropping connection.

Okay, I found something that I had changed a couple weeks ago that may correspond to my issue - there were warnings about a certain virus using signed ActiveX controls, and as a temporary solution, to change the setting in security from Enable to Prompt; I just changed it back to Enable and the reply does now work correctly every time. In IE, it was: Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Internet(Custom Level) -> Download signed ActiveX controls(Prompt/Enable/Disable).

Interestingly enough, once I made this change, not only did my message reply return to normal, but I've now also experienced the PopUp ad(s) that others have noticed - this one is for 3rd season DVDs of "Sex and the City".

The popups don't seem to occur very frequently, though I wouldn't expect them at all as a Subscriber. And yes, this is in the Forums(not the main Anandtech page) on the Subscriber server.

I also get the same error. Took 8 tries to get my last post to post. Also happens when trying to edit one of my posts.:(

Hopefully this will go through the first time.

Well, the problem is still occuring for me. :(

http://subscriber.anandtech.com/messagepost.cfm

HTTP 400 - Bad Request. The page cannot be found.

This is still what I'm getting when I click the Reply to Thread button. If I go back and Refresh, the message does show up as having been posted, but I can see where people would think it hasn't, and go Back, and click the Reply to Thread button. I'll bet this is exaclty what happened with cakin in this thread.

I checked out minendo's thread clicked reply, typed a short reply then hit submit or whatever and it worked. No 400 error and my reply showed up immediately, didn't have to hit back or anything like that.

Using IE 6.0 with XP Pro.
