we normally buy half a cow and have it cut up the way we want it. last year we paid $1.70 a pound, i called our butcher to get a price on another half and the price is now $2.30/pound. A half is normally around 500 pounds (average) so at the current prices the half we paid 850 for last year is now $1,150 bucks. :|

looks like we are going to stuff our deep freeze with pork.

Ever go cow tipping? Do the same thing, but extreme cow tipping. Cut him up and do it yourself.

it its wrapped good it can last a year. at least ours does, no freezer burn on the last ground beef we used last night.

$2.30/pound for a half is cheaper than paying 50 bucks at costco for 4 tbones.

That's a lot of cow. What do you think about bringing a road killed elk to the butcher?

I use to know somebody that would go out with just truck and hit a cow, load it up, and take it to a butcher and sold it. $2k each time (maybe beef is more expensive up here in Canada?)

I think your friend was lying. That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard!!
I don't even know where to start.

Let's see... First... he hit a cow with "just truck" enough, apparently, to kill it?
That's $4k in damage to the truck for an alleged $2k

"load it up" - with what? Did he pick up the 1000 pound cow from the road?? Or, did he hit the cow, the cow flew into the air, and he drove under it before it landed. Heck, I have enough trouble getting a deer into the back end, and that's never above 200 pounds.
