Well it's a seaplane, which means it can land on water. So in areas with a lot of water, you don't need an airbase or carrier for the plane to operate from (until it needs to refuel...). And it's supersonic, which means it can fly faster than many other planes. That would probably be useful for a fighter craft.

As for how stable or practical it was, well, maybe there was a reason it never made it past the prototype phase.
 
The XB-70 Valkyrie is in the USAF museum in Dayton, OH. That museum is better than all other aircraft museums in the world combined... and it's free.
