Mega-woot!

A. I have wanted to try the 512MB GTX since I first heard of it a week or two before launch. I've never had a 512MB card before, and I think we can all agree that this one kicks some serious ass. It may lose some benches to the X1900XTX, but it wins some too, and on most they're the same. As I currently am playing Q4, SS2, and UT2004, I think I'm good to go for some high level gaming antics. :)

B. The X1800XL I have wanted to try since launch as well. I'm curious about the angle independent AF, and wish to see the IQ of the HDR+ AA. (and maybe even the shadows on the gun in ye olde Far Cry)

Congrats man! You got yourself an awesome card that may well be a collectors edition someday. :) Now get to benchmarking and I know you hate OC'ing but do it anyway.

No way on the OC- the 512 is much too beloved to risk. :)

Nope, they are going to be my five year olds rig. (at least after the X1800XL has taught me what I need to know so I can discuss ATI products from a position of experience)

You need 48 pipelines to push you Leggo Star Wars to the next level! ;)

Do you have a 6800u AGP you can unload cheap lying unused within your huge video card empire?

Now I know your going to benchmark Pacific Fighters on both of those cards :p

LOL

How about you just give me $240 for it in a month or two after I've learned what I want to know about it and we call it even? :)

I have no AGP cards except a 6800NU reference card.

I'll think about the PF. <shudder>

Even though I'm your friend and a good guy? :)

It occurred to me while I was arguing about the image quality difference of the angle independent AF that I had never seen it, and neither had the person I was arguing with.

This struck me as totally absurd, so I ordered the XL to see what I was talking about.

The ASUS cooler on the XL is pretty awesome.

Is that a reference GTX512 directly from NVIDIA? Gonna e-bay it now?

btw, I just got the call that I can go pickup my X1900XT :)

Nice.

Glad to see that you took your own advice, and picked up a GTX 512. Even if you don't have my support on this recommendation, as always, you do have my respect for putting your money where your mouth is.

I also think that you will find the ATI card to be a pretty nice card as well. Of course, it won't compare to the GTX 512, but R520 really is better than one would expect given the bad press it received...

Enjoy your toys :)

Looking forward to your posts outlining all the weaknesses of the X1800XL.

I'd say the ATI was the beauty (Ruby :)) and the Nvidia the beast! Look at the size of it!!
I still think the 7800 GTX 512mb is one of the best looking GPU's ever! It just screams power! But it is a little too big im my opinion.
