Who is getting it? I have mine preordered from Amazon.

I have never watched it but have heard from numerous people that it is Disney's best animated film.

What differences (if any) could the "average" viewer see when comparing a regular DVD version, up-converted on a PS3 with a BR version? My wife has a small collection of her favorites movies and she is literally stunned when she sees the quality of the video when up-converted on a PS3.

I preordered it for my wife (we don't yet have children, but she has this weird insistence we assemble our Disney movie collection in case specific titles are "In the Vault" when we begin).
This "vault" thing is great for encouraging piracy, well done Disney

Blu-ray when used through a HDMI cable loooks awesome to me. Some movies look a lot better while others look the exact same. Avs forum has a good rating system to look at for picture quality. Blu-ray players can act as an up-converter and the PS3 is a good one for that.

I love The Incredible Hulk on BD. It looks awesome to me.

Well as we discussed in the Neffing thread Adrenaline, I will probably pick it up for the wife, as it is one of her favorites. I tend to like the old-style Disney movies too.

I can't wait to see it on BD. I have not watched it. I bought the DVD on Amazon about 5 months ago for my wife as it was in the vault and would not be out anytime soon.

I am really really really waiting for The Lion King on BD. I love that movie and hope Disney does it justice on BD.

I'm waiting for Lady and the Tramp on BD. I need to check, but what about Cinderella, Snow White, and Little Mermaid? The last is for my wife; the others are classics.

I don't know about being the best animated Disney film but certainly one of the best. Between 1990-1994 we've seen some of the best progression of animation ever.

The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Lion King

I have no kids but will certainly pick these titles up on Blu-ray when prices come to a reasonable level.

Really depends on screen size, viewing distance, and just how critical of an eye you have. The larger the screen and the closer you sit, the more noticeable the difference. It also matters on the quality of the BR conversion.

What upscaling can not do is add additional color and true resolution.

I plan to pick it up in the morning.

Also for people buying it in store there is a $10 off coupon from Disney Movie Rewards that you can print out. From what I've seen the combo pack should be around $13 to $15 with coupon.

Do you have Star Trek and Planet Earth on Blu Ray? If not, you need those.

I have Star Trek but not planet Earth. Disney has some release schedule where they are doing two remasters a year or something. They should just do them and release them. They will all sell.

Not really. The DVD upscaling is ok at best. It's a great BD player though.

I'm buying "Beauty and the Beast" (BD) tomorrow for my wife, $14.99 with my $10 off coupon. 🙂

I'm actually waiting for the following Disney movies to be released on BD :

1. Alice in Wonderland
2. Aladdin

As for BD PQ, my reference discs are:

1. Avatar (not big on the movie though)
2. A Bug's Life

Both are simply amazing looking!
