just stumbled across these verses that I thought were really well written :) This is not a debate, nor some evangelical post, but a simple break from studying.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me besides still waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, the comfort me."

Psalms 23: 1-4

The first verse is cool because it basically encapsulates Jesus' teachings in his idea that his only commandment is love.

The second one only Christians would care about. Both of those verses I had to memorize at some point in school.

Read Psalms if you want beautiful verses. Read Proverbs if you read something smart.

I think it's cool when people use a verse from the Bible that pertains to everyday life in a secular manner. There's no reason you can't apply the 'secular' parts of religious teachings or risk offending all nonChristians.

Here's a cool story of Jesus.. and even if you don't believe the whole thing, you gotta respect the clever story.

Matthew 22:15-21

Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap [Jesus] in his words. They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men because you pay no attention to who they are. Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

But Jesus, knowing their evil intent said, "You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?"

"Caesar's," they replied.

Then he said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to Godwhat is God's."

Proverbs 25:24

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.
