Anyone wanna listen? I cut off the beginning of the first song and the end of the second song so it would take less time to upload :) Also, stupid Xoom doesn't let you have MP3's on their server, so I renamed them .wav, so you will need to change it back upon downloading. I know Xoom sucks, but they offer unlimited space. Anyway, here they are

Jennifer Lopez - Waiting For Tonight(Hex Hector Remix) -> The Bloodhound Gang -> The Bad Touch

Jay-Z - Give It 2 Me -> Outkast - Ms. Jackson

Jessica Simpson - I Think I'm In Love -> Next - Wifey

Backstreet Boys: The Call -> Larger Than Life -> The Call

Give em a try, they're great :)

I downloaded the Jay-Z and BSB mixes, and they both sound like the regular tracks. One track fades into another at one point..is that all? Did you do these via software? Just wondering b/c I didn't hear any remixed beats/samples in them.

That Bloodhound Gang song just sounds like you sped it up.

Edit: Did you do the same to Ms Jackson and add some scratches or something in there?

They aren't remixed, they're beatmixed. It's the way the two songs go together...matching the beats so it sounds like one song. Yes, The Bad Touch is faster, in order to match beats with the other.

DeeK: Very nice...cd mixing does have it's advantages/disadvantages. Your beats do blend well the snares all match. A song will usually have a 4counts of 4 (16 counts total) before the first verse/chorus hits. Very good otherwise...you wouldn't want to see me on a cd decks :eek: I may post a quickie here later...

Djbacklash: Topic of the thread was beatmixes. Deek showed that very well. I think what you are referrin' to is remixing. Which is his case is very difficult to get an acappella/intrumental. Cds have that disadvantage, their singles usually don't release with an instrumental...right? I never buy them...heh

Pepsi: Yes he did speed up the bloodhound gang. Jay Lo's song was say 135beats per minute (rough estimate). Bloodhound's was 125bpm for instance. In order to mix the two together he would have to either slow down jay lo's or speed up the bloodhound gang some odd %. Or he could do both..however speeding up bloodhound is the easiest, because you wouldn't want to slow Waiting for tonight while it plays. Did i miss the scratching? I think it was part of the song.

Thanx for cleain that up :)

As to the slowing/speeding, I had Waiting for Tonight -2 bpm, and The Bad Touch +6....I normally don't like to slow down a song(I did it beforehand, it was slower the whole song), but +8 is alot, especially for a song with alot of vocals like the bad touch.

<< Did you do these via software >>

Nope, Djing equipment.

<< Edit: Did you do the same to Ms Jackson and add some scratches or something in there? >>

Nope, no scratches, no turntables here :(

I know you guys don't like BSB, but I think the BSB mix is really good....if you havne't listened to it, I'd suggest it :)

Yup my bad :eek: Good effort Deeko..are you new to dj'ing? I haven't had much time to spend with music stuff (school, work, training = no more dj'ing :( ), but I have a set of Pioneer CDJ100s/DJM300s and Roland MC-303 I used to use for remixing. Also had a sampler/drum machine, but I used the pc for a lot of beats.

Speaking of DJing, I just got back from a party :) Anyway, I'm new to solo DJing, I just started working on my own in September, but I've been Djing fo since July '99. The kid who "took me in" and taught me everything, well, he really sucks, and it wasn't long before I was 80x better than him. So I decided he was just bringing me down, and I started going solo. it's been great so far. A friend of mine who is a GREAT beatmixer(he can perfetcly mix almost any two songs) taught me how to beatmix over the summer, so I started actually doing advanced stuff in around August. I learn more about beatmixing almost every day. Beatmixing pop is hard, because it doesn't have a constant beat like dance. Ahh well, I'm just rambling, so I'll stop now.

You should change your name to DJ Decko. Sounds better to me than DJ Deeko. I'll check out your mixes when I'm done d/l my game.

AHHHH nm this geocities is suck

Allure Head Over heels acapella w/ whodini-friends instrum. Cold handed scratching on an old crossfader. I need much more practice on the scratching...
I'd do some more mixing but I don't feel like moving the mixer out of the coffin (the headphone jack is blocked).
