neighbor sold it to me for super cheap but his nephew had jacked his guitar before I got around to buying the game. Being the cheap-ass I am I decided not to buy a control for one game I probably wouldn't even play that much.

Playing it with a mouse + keyboard was worse than trying to play Halo with a damn game pad. I must be bored, can someone explain to me why the damn guitar controller is so expensive? It's not even made all that well, sheese.

aside from no guitar controller, the crappy port which was laggy at parts making it very hard to beat certain songs (e6550 + 2 gigs + 8600gt) it was a nice change of pace. I don't like Rock music but some of the tunes were pretty good. That last song you play during the credits was bad ass, I really sucked ass on it but it wasn't scoring me so no matter :)

it is more of a party game... the losers who play it alone miss the point ...

But..
<=== Never played the game.

The "losers" who play it alone play it for fun. It's a fun game. Playing alone is also a good way to get better, so you can rock everyone else at the next party you go to.

There's a pretty big difference between DDR and Guitar Hero. DDR you can't play alone, Guitar Hero you can.

Well, this "loser" is having a blast playing it alone. More fun with others but solo is pretty cool.

As a loser who played Drum Mania like crazy in Japanese arcades, well, I can imagine playing GH by myself. It looks pretty fun, if not totally frustrating.

I've played DDR by myself before, but after knowing fact that no one at the arcade can defeat me, I stopped. Most people who stick to these simple rythm games have a purpose other than it being fun.

If you don't like Rock, why did you get Guitar Hero?

deal was too good to pass up, and I enjoy a few of the songs. Black Magic Woman is especially bad ass. Some of the songs were just too fast for my hands/eyes, I think playing with a keyboard + mouse makes it even harder, maybe i can borrow a real controller from somebody around me and try the game the way it's supposed to be played :D

not to bump an old thread but i'm looking to go loser soon and get GH3 for the PC...

I am looking for more impressions from anyone here... controller / graphics / gameplay comments appreciated... thx

also... what's the deal with the adapters so I can use my PS2 guitar... that would be ideal!

edit2: I have read through the GH3 posts in this forum and it seems like there is a split camp in regards to how smooth the game runs even on high-powered setups.

Can we get some more responses on that? very curious.

Is there a patch for it yet?

the game lags, I have a decent system one that can play Crysis on medium. GH3 runs like crap in some parts, I'm NOT good at the game so maybe part of it is due to lack of my skills. But I'd seem to miss some easy notes and I felt like I was hitting them exactly on. I was frustrated by this. I don't think the game runs smooth on anyones system, but I think some people are good and don't notice. There were on mine a few times where it was obviously lagging and caused me to screw up worse than I can on my own.

It's pretty much agreed on by people who've played it that this is a pretty poor port. I mean the graphics are simple, the animations aren't complex yet you still need a monster of a PC to play it well, makes no sense at all.

thanks for the insight QB.

Perhaps it'll be a "try before you buy" situation for me... :ninja;

Um...you pretty much have to play it alone if you want to get good. It's a fun game and no different than playing any other video game alone.

But..
<=== Never played the game.

Exactly.
