jeebus, it wasn't in the wild. it was in a hospital. i think it's okay to shoot a bear if it comes into a hospital eli. it's not like they are advocating going into the wild and wiping out the whole population.

I kill animals for fun. Sometimes I'll run them down and strangle them with my bare hands (pending on how fast the animal is). It's okay, they'll make good food for the buzzards and good fertilizer for the ground. It's a natural cycle that's meant to happen. Come on, unleash your anger at me.

(Note: This doesn't apply for domesticated animals)

Well, I completely understand that.. 😛

I wasn't really speaking specifically about this bear, I was just talking about the general attitude of some of the posters in this thread.

As for the OP, I dunno.. the bear was in a hospital, how was anybody supposed to determine whether it was dangerous or not?... I don't think killing it is too much of a stretch, even if it wasn't completely necessary.
 
it's not really safe to release bears in the wild that are known to not fear humans. maybe something could have been done differently, but it's nothing to get too pissy over. and we are certainly not running out of bears, their populations are rising very well.

By the same token, it's only one friggin black bear, not the end of the species, and certainly not the end of the planet. The bear wandered into a hospital, creating the potential for a dangerous situation. Unfortunate to kill it but there were too many risks involved in trying to keep it alive.

Besides, at least it didn't get the frying pan treatment. 😛

I agree. See my last post. 😛 I should've been more clear. It was the other posters attitudes that disgusted me, not the fact that this one bear was killed...

They've got some sort of redneck mentality that they've gotta be tough men, shoot anything that moves and dump their used engine oil down the storm drain... for no other reason than that's what their daddys taught them. That's what set me off. 😛

Dude, this bear walked into a HOSPITAL. It's not like it just stopped to take a drink at a brook. It was potentially dangerous. Sometimes I think I'm the last person left on Earth that values human life more than animal life. I value BOTH. But I value human life more.

I heard a quote before and I thought it was pretty nice (although may not be totally accurate), maybe you can take something from it.

"We don't inherit the earth from our parents, instead we borrow it from our children."

Basically, don't think that you can do anything to the earth because you think it's your home. It's the home of your children and you are just a guest. Keep your home clean and don't take advantage of it.

Brilliant idea. That way, after the bear attacks and eats whoever attacked him (and that is how he is going to perceive it), he can take a nap about an hour later.
