Having a problem with my BE6 not wanting to pick up a 256Mb PC133 Stick of Ram.
is only picking it up as a 128Mb stick.

the board supports up to a 256Mb stick of ram,but won't pick mine up right.

so was hoping maybe someone can help me out with this problem.

The Ram is 256Mb PC133 Kingston.
Infineon Chips/8 Chips on one side (32x8)

Specs:
BE6 (Not latest Bios)
Cel2 700@874
Win98SE
384Mb Ram (tried 256Mb Stick by itself)

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for link.

still not sure what the prob is.

all i know is,the board said it supports the 256Mb Sticks,ECC.
i have had kingston Ram in this system before (but only 64Mb Sticks) with no problem.

the 256Mb stick has the 8 chips on one side.
32X8 Chips.
so not sure what that exactly means.

Thanks for input though.

Your 256MB DIMM is probably high density ??x4 RAM. Much of the very cheap RAM floating around is this high density type. It is incompatible with Intel chipsets.

You need a 256MB DIMM of ??x8 type.
