Ive got a system with a be6 mobo installed, and a 10gig ibm hd connected. Its worked fine for the past 18months or so, but now I get this error message when booting up:
<< Windows 2000 could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows 2000(TM) documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information. >>
I've tried:
(i)bios update to latest version
(ii)changing ide cables
(iii)booting from win2k cdrom to use the recovery option - but for some reason I can no longer boot from the cdrom??
(iv)checking the integrity of the hd in another machine - works fine.
I suspect faulty ide controller (coz cdrom boot not working), or some be6 instability (of which there are many ). My next idea is to replace the mobo, to find out if the be6 is the source of the problem.
Any help would be highly appreciated.....
