I have an Abit BE6-2 (rev 1.2) with lastest BIOS, HTP370 ATA-100 on-board (non-RAID)and an IBM DTLA 20gb HDD (7200rpm 2mb Buffer) ..... Win98 / WinME works flawlessly, but Win2k gives me serious issues.

If I try to install Win2k directly onto the IBM, it will crash during the install with the error INACCESSABLE BOOT DEVICE .... even if I run on the ATA33 and disable HPT370 controller.

Installation is perfect on a 4gb Samsung, I can load the HPT370 Win2k drivers no problem, and even run a 20gb Quantum KX on the HPT370, but as soon as I attatch the IBM drive ... kablaam .. Win2k locks up during boot.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated !!!!!

Got the same problem with my HTP366 PCI controller card. When my IBM 45 GXP75 is connected to the HTP controller win2k failes to load. Win98 is fines though.

The "inaccessable boot device" can be fixed. Copy the HTP370 win2k driver to a floppy. When the w2k installation restarts the computer after copying files it will ask you if you need to install additonal(or "3rd. party" - cant remember) storage drivers. Choose yes, and point to the floppy. "highpoint HTP370" drivers should be found. This will allow you to install w2k, but it does not change the fact that once the installed w2k will fail to boot:(

I only used fdisk. - no 3rd party utilities of any sort. If i put the IBM drive back on the onboard controller w2k load just fine...

I have only used FDISK / format on the drive, and I know it's not the drive itself, I have 2 and they both have the same problem ... the strangest thing is that Win2k won't boot from the IBM even on the standard IDE controller, which discounts the HTP370 controller as the source of the problem .......

When you put the boot drive on the standart IDE controller, is your 2nd drive still on the HTP370? If thats the case try removing all drives from the HTP370 and boot win2k.

Damn it, another Highpoint user in trouble.

Though my HPT368 raid controller works in W2K, but it gives me endless stability/performance problems. Worst of all, their tech support never never never reply me.

Highpoint sucks the big a$$.! :|
