So let me get this straight. If someone offends me, I now lose my right to freedom of association and must continue to associate with them, even though they pissed me off and/or harmed my business?

There is no hypocrisy here whatsoever... except maybe from you. By your logic, you have never stopped associating with someone because of something they've said.

Sorry, I don't buy it.

i do see your point with that example

yes its a bad thing if some one posts a web site saying "DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THE COMPANY I WORK FOR!"

but what about people that simply post about there day at work?

should they be fire too?

If what they post offends those they associate with, those people should be free to no longer associate with them.

Again, freedom of speech does NOT mean freedom from social consequence. If you piss someone off, or merely turn them off, they have every right to stop associating with you.

I'm not trying to make you mad or anything

but lets say some guy that does the hiring or is the CEO at a company is racist, he is offended by any and all minorities

he is free to fire or turn away all minorities?

they're are laws against that sort of thing

thats just something i think would be related

Laws against hiring or firing based on race, sex, disability, religion and national origin apply to those issues, and those issues alone.

I lost a job b/c of something a friend posted in a so-called "unknown forum". Yea, it was a restaurant job... and I was scamming legally. He was jealous as to the extra $ I was making off my coupon scam and posted it. Nowadays I'm thankful he did as I immediately got a good techincal job, which led to experience landing me the great job I have now as a graduate.

well as far as i can see its still the same type of issue, its just that there are laws agains't the race, sex, disability, religion and national origin issues.

but should someone be fired simply for stating what their day at work was like?

If the content of the published account offends the employer, or worse yet, harms the business? Yes.

Just as you can quit at any time if your employer offends you, your employer deserves the equal right to fire you if you offend them. Employment is a mutual agreement. NOT a right.
