Anyone have this happen with an optical drive? It's connected via SATA and it has proper writes but slow reads with DVD Media. Any ideas? There's no DMA options anywhere in device manager, I looked. It has been like this on multiple systems and I wonder if it's just that BDR drives have slow DVD read speeds by default.

Anyone know?

What software are you using to read the disc?

Tried two ways. Copying a 1GB file off a DVD to the desktop and also checked with Nero Disk Speed tool.

Both slowed relatively slow reads compared to an old IDE DVDRW drive I had.

Does it work OK on Blu-Rays? Blu-Rays use a different laser than DVD, so it could be that you've got a unit with a weak DVD laser.
