In my even logs I have an error that happens all the time. it reads the following.

"The BCM42RLY service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."

Now that is a Broadcom Driver of some kind and I do not believe I have ANYTHING broadcom on my comp; I could be very wrong. the errors have been going on for a couple weeks. HERE IS THE XML view of this.
- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">

Now, I really think that this is just a piece of software trying to start a piece of hardware that I do not have, but I could be wrong. Please help me before I do a /format.

Also, all the information on the web is dated back to like 2007 on dell devices, pffft. There is some newer stuff with the same BCM42RLY but its not really relative to my problem.

Hello boglwe,

Go to device manager and tell us what you have listed under Sound Controllers and Network adapters.

While there, let us know if any of the devices have a yellow exclamation point.

Then, go to Programs and Features and see if it shows any installed drivers by Broadcom.

THere is nothing in yellow or "Not working". but here is the rest from the Device manager. Thanks for the reply BTW.

This error happens about ever half second or more since the 24th. If there is a way I can go back and look at what I did at that time I could maybe fix this problem.

Sound and video:

Hd webcam C525 (logitech)
MPK Mini (thats a usb midi controller)
Nvidia HD audio
Nvidia HD audio (2 of them becuase there are 2x 760's)
Nvidia Virtual Audio Device (wave extensible) (wdm)
Realtek HD Audio

In network adapters
Asus PCI-E AC68 802.11ac Network adaptor #2
Bluetooth Device (personal area network) #2
Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM protocol TDI) #2
Intel(R) Centrino(R) wireless-N2230
killer e2200 PCI-E Gigabite Ethernet Controller
Microsoft virtual Wifi miniport Adapter #4

In addition, there is nothing with broadcom in device manager or programs and features.

On a side note, I use the Asus AC68 to actually send out a signal from the ethernet coming into the comp on the killer network card.

When ever I have seen a #2 in device manager it's because there is a #1 that is not working. You may have to go into safe mode to see it.

I also find it odd that you are running two wireless cards simultaneously.

Yea, all the number 2 and 4 crap I just do not get. The way windows handles network adapters is just plane silly. Anyways, I run two wifi for a couple reason, but the most important is that One if for incoming and one is for outgoing and I do not want to conflict with the 2. One is for sharing, one is for incoming hotspots.

The Asus adapter is super fast and I use that for gaming. the other is super crappy and I use that for incoming when available. I have an Nvidia Shield that I use a lot, if that helps and my next goal is SteamOS streaming.

I went into safe mode and could find nothing. How can I see it or them on safe mode?

I also just noticed something. There is a little icon in my taskbar with an X on bottom right of icon. I know not what this icon is. Here is a pic. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35963709/20140301_225808.jpg

when I scroll over it it gives me ZERO information or popups, when I left click it, it brings me to the same window as if I was clicking Computer. When I right click it it just goes away. When I click the arrow down key to see all icons, it goes away.

Icon either looks like a mushroom cloud or a webcam. :p

At least to me it looks like something a webcam would use, so my assumption is that it's for your Logitech webcam?

Looks like broadcom makes a bluetooth driver for logitech products?

Just throwing guesses out there...

The icon with the x looks like a shared folder it can't connect to.

Yep, that's what that is and was. Its a network drive that I need to put in my PW for. I just wish we could fix this issue though about the errors. I really do not want to format.

So is it causing any noticeable issues issues besides the entries in the event logs?

A guess would be that a driver doesn't like your network configuration. How about a webcam?

The only issues I have noticed and they all started on the 24th, is that any game I play will just pause for about 6 seconds and then pick up where it left off, sound will continue to play. So like running through a hallway... You are running pressing the W key, The graphics just stall, The sound continues and if you are still pressing the W key then you will end up where the game Should be 6 seconds later. Like a serious lag, but it is certainly not a latency issue.

I do have a webcam, Should I uninstall the drivers then redo that?

If it were me it'd be worth a shot. Is this deal limited to online games?

OK, I got the errors to STOP, for atleast 20 minutes now. I uninstalled the Asus PCI-E ac 68 utilities, not the drivers just the utilities. BUT NOW... My adhoc network does not work. Mind you I have to do a special one in order for android devices to see the network. THIS IS THE METHOD I USED> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ii3e0cB-oMs

If you have a better way of doing this, please let me know. NORMAL WAY DOES NOW WORK. Only laptops and other windows like devices will see the WIFI network. Android devices will not.

I have the same issue with my PCE- AC68 card. Error messages multiple times per second constantly in my event log. Have contacted Asus but don't expect much more than a recommendation to uninstall and reinstall as is the mantra of almost all tech support these days.

Anyone else have this issue? figure out a fix?
