I read somewhere here that AMD is discontinuing slot processors. So there is v little upgrade possibility down the line for the board.

With the Duron's prices falling daily, the older "Slot A" Athlon is no longer any bargin. These $150 older Athlon specials are popping up everywhere.

You can get a Duron 650, which easily overclocks to 950Mhz, Overclock Duron, and a "Socket A" motherboard, which requires much less power than Slot A motherboards, for a total price of $149 to $189. You'll also avoid a lot of the compatability issues the original Athlons had. Clock for clock, a Duron runs the same as the original Slot A Athlons, but the Duron can easily be overclocked to simply blow away any Slot A Athlon.

After looking for about 10 minutes, I found these non-Hot Deals, but everyday prices.
Look around and I'm sure you can find a hot deal on this stuff, and pay even less!
Duron 650 retail with heatsink and fan for $60.

Abit KT7, which will allow you to run the above 650@950Mhz:
Abit KT7 for $129

El-cheapo boards like FIC AZ11 for $85, or a GigaByte board for $89.
