BC Place Stadium's roof deflated

It's all in the plans for 2010 😉

I don't think they will replace it........ the dome needed to be replaced. I think it was past it's rated life.

Apparently the builder of the dome said it was structurally sound and didn't need replacement... *shrug*

Could this mean that the Lions will have to play in open air till they can replace it? I think it's going to take more then a year to replace.

Man, that'd be kind of sweet. Although, I really don't know where they'd play...

I'd love to see that proposed open air soccer stadium go through and get expanded now.

They can't just take the roof off though. The entire stadium is meant to be indoors. There's no drainage in the field so if it rained, it'd turn into a pool in about 30 minutes. Also, the stands would do the same thing. In order to make it work, they'd have to completely re-do the lower level, change the stands to add drainage, and then do a full electrical system overhaul.

This happened at the Silverdome in Detroit (well, Pontiac actually) a number of years ago. Tore a hole, the whole thing deflated. Took awhile to fix it as I recall

Apparently it was a controlled deflation. The panel should take a week to get here. Once installed, they can reinflate it. The first time it was inflated only took 25-30 minutes.
