They're still closing in on us, that is! :Q.....They are within 76,000 (SETI@Work) and just had the author of SETISpy (Roelof) join their team with 12,100 WU's. Even without Bandai, they are slowly but surely moving in. I would just fall over if we finally took #10 to only get knocked back to #11 again! 🙁

My part: I just received my new 16 port 10/100 switch and will start the building of my rack this weekend...starting out with 2 - XP1600+ systems with 128M ddr on the L7SOM board. I also have started getting those "HOT DEALS" for the next set (i.e. 256DDR Ram + Calculator from OfficeDepot for $15.00+ tax after rebate 😀). Should also receive the new work P4 1.8GHz on Monday.....😀

more...more...more! :Q

Time to take a stand now.....harder to stop the momentum once it gets too close! :Q

Couple of ideas I also have to help:

1. Another MTR. I don't have the time to run one, but would be glad to donate the WU's 😀 Anyone? (Note: I know we've looked at this lately....BBR is actually running one right now...so their production will probably trend upward while it's going on. Races seem to spur on both teams.

2. How about a DC Hot Deals thread in which we link hot deals posts from the Hot Deals forums that would be very good (cheap) items for crunch racks or cheap upgrades so that the DC group (all projects) could benefit from better prices (and would probably buy more! 😛)

3. ENTERPRISE (The TeAm BeoWulf) 🙂 (more..more..more! :Q)

Any other ideas....?

I'd go for more BEOWULF like projects or a crack rack. I have a shelf sitting here and some free ports on my switch I could spare. 😉 Plus, I need an excuse to wire the basement. 😀

We need more active users. More More More. We need to keep a 6 digit buffer between us and DSLR. 🙂
Everyone get another user active or hook up another CPU and go go go!

I wish I had a basement...and my house is too full (and too hot from all the PC's now) to add more. I did, however, insulate my garage door with double styrofoam insulation and will be adding a thermostatically controlled vent fan to cool it down. Along with thermostatic fans (10 inch diameter) blowing across the motherboard/cpu/power supply, it should remain cool enough for open, no case system to run OK...especially if I get fast fans for the heatsinks. Not sure how I'm going to lay the rack out yet...will work on it very soon. I can't wait! 😀

Looks like we need more, more, more 😀
As far as doing my part going by setiatwork my average for the last 7 days is 40.1 an increase of around 10 a day and I still have an 1800xp I haven't had the time to get together yet. Hope to have that done in the next few days.🙂
As far as ideas . One thing I've been doing is selling machines at cost to people if they will run seti at least part time then taking the money to build other machines to sell to other people. One drawback is you can't be sure they will do it or for how long they will do it.Of course if they don't the free tech support stops.
I don't work in the computer field so my income don't depend on the money i get from building them

Well, they're not terribly fast, but I picked up a couple dual PPro rigs and another Quad PPro(still needs a couple parts), so those will help a little. 🙂

I've started doing exactly what Freewolf described. So I guess you could say, "Will work for SETI WUs". 😉 🙂 😀

🙁 It's down to 71,700 now (SETITeam)!!! 🙁

They are getting new membership with LOTS of WU's very fast....we need more..more..more!

/me goes to look for the electric shock prods and the whips! :Q...more...more...more! :Q

I will look into asking IT admin at college about assimilating the entire network of 250 -300 computers. They're all going to be capable of running XP soon. He doesn't mind SETI@home at all and allowed me, confused and ai3x to install it at will around college/school. Maybe I'll be able to get it to run as a service. Now imagine the output that'd be able to give!!!

If they are worried Seti will slow down the computers when people are using them, put the client on a schedule. In the seti as a service program you can schedule it to turn on at lets say 6pm and turn off again at 8am. Better than nothing...

Assimilate those PC!!!!

More more more... now now now.

That would be a great boost in production. Good luck on the approval! 😀
