What a lovely night it was! Until the moon rose I could actually see thousands of stars, and Mars was a blaze of reddish glory. I was keenly disappointed when the power returned, and glaring white lights blared out everywhere. Why must we bathe our cities in unnatural brilliance all night anyway? I find it an annoyance and a dreadful waste of energy. Still, it's nice to have my internet back...

some funny comments there

In the last 24 hours, the number of junk emails I have received is much lower than normal, thanks no doubt to the power failures in the US. Perhaps an America deprived of electricity would let the rest of the world live peacefully...

The BBC news is pi$$ing me off atm.

In the UK on BBC news 24, they seem to be doing almost nothing but talking about the power blackout.
From about 11pm to 12:30 last night they were talking about it (I only watched it during that time), then this morning they're talking about it, almost ignoring anything else.

There is a world outside the power cut.

They also should have seen some left over Meteorites from the Persied Meteor shower.

That would be nice but I don't see a significant drop off in the junk mail, a few less Generic Viagra ads however so apparently some of it does in fact originate from New York or Northeast U.S. computers.
