BBC article made me go HUH ??

Ya, like you are reading this lengthy article and you are like "Microsoft is actually planing this :shocked:" and then he throws in those 2 paragraphs in and your like mofo !

But what scares me is that his imagination might not be way off about the near future!

That I didn't read the article entirely is an incorrect assumption on your part, as is the impression that it is Off Topic relevant.
I stand by my contention that given that the majority of the article is discussing Operating Systems , specifically Linux ,Windows and "Micrix" I feel it would be best posted there.

If you think it's "off topic", why don't you C&P the appropriate section for all to read here without having to drill down through the Operating System / Open Source hybrid discussion for whatever arcane point you found humorous.
That is still lost on me , although I did find the OS hybrid discussion interesting.
 
So that was pretty much a whole article about absolutely nothing. An entire article of filler. Wonderful.

Why would you think that? I found myself wondering what kind of fantasy the guy was having through the whole article.

With the technical writing equivalent of "but then I woke up and realized it was all a dream." My English teacher warned us at the beginning of class that ANY thing with that ending would be an automatic FAIL. The editor should have done the same.

Well I can see that being done for a creative writing or fiction piece and have no problem with it. It doesn't quite belong in a place like that website though.

Agreed. My illustrative point is that in the context of a fantasy or dream story, it might be appropriate, but in practice that is one of the biggest literary cop outs EVAH!.
