After reading this thread at rage3d forums. It appears that ATI is shipping out X800 Pros VIVO that are just dummied down XTs. A lot of people are confirming that these cards are VIVO around the country and can be flashed to XT PEs.

At 399.99 for a VIVO X800 is semi-worth it since on pricewatch they're all selling for much higher but being easily flashable to XT PEs makes this smoking. Check the Video Forums here for threads on how to flash the card. From what I've read its reversable too if it doesn't pan out since there's no hardware modding involved unless you choose to boost to a higher core voltage for better overclocks.

I bought one at CUSA and it was a VIVO. The batch code on mine was 630430.

Good luck.

I believe VIVO's have 16 pipelines, just 4 are disabled (not cut off, so no need for hard mod). Not bad if you can get a VIVO -> XT for the price of a PRO. Would be about 433 with tax. Might need to check this one out. Anyone know if BBA cards are sold at any other retailers?

I decided to check EBay for used ones with pictures of the card. Some guy is selling one he got from CompUSA a month ago and it is NOT the moddable type. With the 15% restocking fee this is so YMMV it's not funny.

Well when you buy one on ebay you can't see the box, when you go to a store you can see the box itself and see the batch code (S/N) on the outside of the box since certain batch codes seem to be the ones that are VIVO. This similar to the deal a couple of months back where 9600SEs that were shipping were really 9600 Pros except for a little extra modding.

YMMV = your mileage may vary

Just got back from the CompUSSR in fountain valley CA, they have 2 sku 630430...bought one but am going to give it a couple more days to think about it before I open it. $400 is a little bit too much for me to spend on a videocard...even if its a good deal =(

anyways..theres one more there..so if anyone wants one...you know where to get it...

also this is probably the only way to get an x800xt, as no one has them in stack for the past couple of months.

If it was JUST $400, I'd probably do it. But tax in CA is gonna add another $35. Believe it or not, that's enough to break the camel's back and keep me from buying. Plus, I still have that provantage backordered GT for $345 with tax and shipping.

My Gigabyte X800 Pro VIVO was 16 pipes out the box. OCed to 535/535 while not great and the memory not XT speeds, I've got my hands on the next-gen card I needed... well wanted. I'm sure if I had better contact on the memory I could get the clock higher. THe HSF sits higher than the BGA ram, so Gigabyte put this white, almost foam looking-like stuff to make contact with the HSF. I'll have to do something about it some time

don't you know you're not supposed to explain net acronyms to newbies, they should find out for themselves, just like everyone else did (hint to newbie: google it).

Well, I went to Best Buy and bought the only two cards they had. When I opened them neither one was VIVO. Took them back to Best Buy and returned them, no restocking fee (a friend of mine works in CS). Looks like I'll be sticking with my GT purchase.

I went to the compusa in overland park, ks, today and they have 2 that match that SN. I picked one up and was heading to the register and thought.

"$400.00 is just way too much to spend on a video card."

My 9500 softmodded to a 9700 WITH ZERO ARTIFACTS works perfectly for me. sure, its not the fastest thing out there, but then again, $400.00 is a lot of money!!

Glad I talked myself out of that purchase. For $400.00, I can buy almost all the wood for my new deck.

But your deck will only get 4500 TOPS in 3DMark01.
