i want to know if it is worth to upgrade to 6600 GT/ultra ( unlock 16 pipes).

right now i have this config:

Msi Neo2 Plat.
3200 venice
OCZ PC4000 rev. 1
ATI 9800 pro/xt
17 inches CFT monitor (later i wil lhave 17 inches LCD)

usually i use it as gamer, internet and encoded movies.

umm you can't unlock 16 pipes on a 6600gt. thats on a 6800, where one pipe quad is disabled. also, do you mean a crt monitor? not cft? well yes, i would say it is worth the upgrade. if you can try to get the 6800nu and unlock it. its better than the 6600gt, which has only 8 physical pipes.

You can't unlock the pipes on a 6600GT. It is a different core than the 6800 series, and they don't have any locked pipes. IMO, the suggested upgrade from a 9800 Pro would be an AGP X800XL on the ATi side and a 6800GT on the nVidia side.

I wouldn't waste your money upgrading from a 9800pro to a 6600gt. I can't see the marginal performance difference justifying $150-$200 for the new card.
