has anyone installed this upgrade yet. im wondered if youve had any problems with it (any bugs or instabilities?) and if it works ok with the hardware, which is more designed for bb5.

I have two 9700's with OS6 on them, they're GSM, not CDMA, but both have been flawless so far. The wife said that so far it's been 100% reliable and the odd restarts she was having on OS5 have gone. It's only been a month so far, but it's looking good.

Also bear in mind that you can always just roll OS5 back on if you aren't happy with 6. Just make sure you do the backup when prompted by Desktop Manager.

do you think tour-->bold w/bb6 is a worthwhile upgrade? i have to have bb for work but im not very satisfied with tour. i tried to find info on the rim website but it doesnt say whether there is a difference in chip speed between these two models

The Bold uses the Marvel PX930 @ 624Mhz, if anything it may be a lick quicker than the Tour, but not so you'd notice. With OS6 the interface is way more fluid than 5 anyway, so you'll definately notice the difference in response, regardless.

+1 for OS 6 on the Bold. I have had it installed on my GSM 9700 for about a month now. It is a really smooth update over OS 5. It's not an earth shattering upgrade, but it works so well, that I was hooked after about 20 minutes of toying with it. It isn't faster, but feels like it. My only problem I had early on was that I would run out of memory if I had too many browser tabs open with heavy content. Then I chipped the camera lens on the back so I went out and grabbed a 9780.

Shortly thereafter, I learned about BB OS Shrinker. Trimmed a few MB off the install with it and I've been packing the 9700 (instead of the 9780) around for about a week to see what would happen. It's been running like a dream. There are a few bugs in the BBM (scrolling and some shortcuts), but I never use it so I've been unaffected. Hop over to the forums at www.crackberry.com and there's a ton more feedback on it there.

Hybrids should NEVER COST MONEY! DO NOT PAY ANY ONE FOR BB OS!

Fire and brimstone out of way here is some sage advice:

Always get your OS updates and info from a trusted source. I use Crackberry. They will have threads in the OS forums detailing any useful hybrids that may exist. Also, just because a Hybrid exists it doesn't mean it is better. YMMV, but just be aware and read, read, read the threads on an OS if it is a beta or Hybrid.

OK, I run a Hybrid on my Storm 2 (580). It has some OS6 libraries in it, but otherwise it looks like OS5.
