BB to stop carrying DVD-R/-Rw drives and media?
Just a rumour that I heard, any BB employee's or people in the know confirm?

I dont work for BB , but since DVD-R has been around a bit longer, and all the people I know own DVD-RW drives, I somehow doubt that they'd stop carrying DVD-R when there's demand .

That was my thinking too, it is more than likely just a rumour but...figure'd I'd ask the most in the know people on the web.

I can't imagine they would. The whole thing about the two formats is so lame anyway. I can't wait to see how many HD-DVD specs come out.

thats why they are called rumors, i am sure this is no accuracy to this statement by this employee.

Well, seeing as how I unloaded the truck last night at bestbuy I think I would be able to add to this topic. No, best buy is not going to stop selling dvd -r/-rw drives. Hell, we just got in twenty more of them last night. I am not sure who would even think that the place would stop selling such a hot ticket item such as those drives and the media for it.

It is, dvd-r is much much much more widely accepted.

More widely accepted by those who already have -R drives. -R had a head start on +R. The old DVD Player argument is moot as modern players take both formats.

DVD+R is becoming more popular at the expense of DVD-R. I would not be surprised to see Best Buy discontinue DVD-R media as they mostly carry DVD+R drives now. The only DVD-R drive available in Best Buy stores is the Sony combo drive. The Pioneer DVD-R drive is listed on their website, but is not in stores. These are just my observations from the two Best Buy stores that I frequent.

I think because DVD+R seems to be the winning camp!

Thats funny. I thought DVD-R was vastly more accepted than DVD+R.

It seems more people have dvd-r, but dvd+r is being supported more. I think DVD+R is better also.

DVD-R
Kinda reminds me of the Beta vs VHS days.

I presume that the DVD+ will prevail seeing that all the manuf. are selling onlt the plus except for Sony and some Sony rebadged
