First deal, so don't flame me too much if you don't think it's hot.
BB's in-house brand ( vpr Matrix ), is currently at $1399. Add in a BB $100 rebate for all Pentium-4 based laptops, another BB $100 rebate for buying a Matrix, and suddenly you're at $1199.
That still doesn't sound very hot IMO, but then realize that Best Buy is currently running a promotions of 12 Months No Interest on all laptops. So, the deal gets a little better for cash-tight people with big dreams.
P4M - 1.7 Ghz ( mobile version of processor, unlike the Compaq 1500T )
256 MB RAM
20 GB Hard Disk
Combo DVD/CDRW drive
IEEE1394 port ( firewire )
2 USB ports
S-Video out
PCMCIA slot
1024x768 XGA Graphics
ATI Radeon 7500 video (M7)
The unit itself is relatively sturdy ( IMO comparable to the HP or Compaq ) and seems to be built well enough. I would have preferred the Compaq, but the extra expense to get a P4-M ( you have to buy the 2800 instead of the 1500T ) I couldn't even begin to justify. And 12 Months No Interest was a big bonus.
