BB has a 128 mb PNY compactflash and USB reader combo deal listed in their flyer for $59 AFTER instant and mail-in rebates.
I don't know if it is a messup but my total on the receipt BEFORE mail-in rebate was $59 for the compactflash and $0 (that's right, ZERO) for the reader. Therefore after the mail-in rebate of $15 for the combo the net is $44 for the 128 mb CF card AND the reader. I don't know if the Smartmedia card will do the same. Check it out.

Edit: I just plugged the USB reader it into my computer running XP Home, and it works well, reading and writing like a drive. The PNY CF card works well in my iPaq, big enought to store the Chinese Connection full length Bruce Lee movie.

Re-edit: deal is over now.

Confirmed. Theres a thread on phatwallet about this one. I scored one last night so i squeezed in the 10% coupon too.

The deal was supposed to be
$59.99 PNY 128MB CF
$15.00 PNY USB Reader
-15.00 PNY USB Reader Rebate

You buy that and the PNY CF Reader for $15 then you get a $15 rebate making the reader "free". But the bundle is ringing up like this.

$59.99 PNY 128MB CF
$ 0.00 PNY USB Reader
-15.00 PNY USB Reader Rebate

So in the end you get the whole bundle for $45.

Deal works with both the SmartMedia & reader or CompactFlash & reader. I purchased both sets on seperate receipts yesterday. The total will not adjust at the register until the final total. Hopefully the rebate will still be paid since the cost of the reader shows as $0.00 on both the regular and rebate receipts. These errors generally get caught the first day of the sale so you may want to try ASAP if you want the deal.

Do you think returning the compact flash card and keeping the reader would work? I'm also looking for reviews or tests showing the speed of PNY compared to other brands..

Believe me, I know times are tough, but most folks here don't condone fraud. The reader costs $15 separately, which is already fairly cheap.

If the rebate comes through (which isn't guaranteed), you're basically looking at $30 for 128 MB memory card and $15 for the reader, which is a steal.

If you want to participate in petty theft, then just stuff the damn reader into your jacket and walk out of the store.

I just bought the SmartMedia combo minutes ago, so at this moment, the deal is good. I would hop in asap in case someone discovers the mispricing in their database.

Fraud? Dude get a grip. I have a receipt that shows I paid 59.99 for a CF card and 0.00 for a reader. I didn't steal anything. If I want to return an item thats not theft. The worst they can do is say no. Jeeezz LMAO

Im not saying not to do it or anything, but do you really not see yourself doing anything bad by trying to pull that off? Its a good deal so why try to scam them more.

I most likely WILL NOT be returning anything. My only concern is the quality of PNY CF. I wish I could find some reviews / tests. There's a good test over at dpreview.com but PNY isn't included.

Just got back from BB, got the 128 mb smartmedia card + reader for $64.49 and the $15 rebate form, installed it on my digital camera and works like a charm, took some sample pictures to make sure it would read/write. Great deal, especially since smartmedia card readers are more expensive then compact flash readers (although compact flash cards cost more then smart media) Too bad the bb in my area ran out of the 128 mb compact flash cards...

Using the reader, can you transfer TO the CF from your PC?
If so, I could use this with the Kodak Smart Frame from The Geeks, since I don't have a digicam that uses CF.

Hey Monkey Butler, how did you manage to get the 10% coupon in? I have a coupon that expires the 15th and I tried it on this deal, but the cash register had to go and get a manager and she in turn denied me the use od the coupon, saying that it was not good in combination with any other offers. I was thinking of trying it again at another BB, but I didn't know if there was a chance of it working or not.

Thanks for the heads-up. Seriously doubt we'll ever see the $15 rebate, but $64 (incl tax) for a card and a reader is a good deal!

Thanks, I needed one to go with my BE-300 I picked up at CompUSA. Now I have room for some MP3s, pictures, and video.
