Bazooka "tube" car subs?

I had one of those bazooka triangular enclosures with subs and it was working fine until some fvcker stole it (and my amp).. Anyway, since I'm broke but would still like some decent sound, how are there tube subs? This one seems fair for $150 including the amp.. I need to put this in the trunk of a compact car (elantra) and am more into smooth, warm, sexy bass and not the booming stuff.. Would this fit the bill or should I get the $189 2 subs, amp, enclosure combo listed here (scroll to the bottom - sorry, it's not a direct link to the item)? The thief left most of the wiring - is it hard to reconnect the amp/speakers on both sides (my dealer disconnected the amp's power supply to be safe).. Thanks!

See if you can find the Infinity "Basslink" powered sub.
Otherwise, I'd probably go with the Bazooka over the cheezy combo.

bah, that sucks it got stolen. my friend has bazooka sub and he loves it. i dont know about the other one though.

Yeah, it blows that it was stolen - especially since insurance wouldn't cover it (the deductable was less than the cost of my subwoofer and I didn't have a receipt for my amp).. That's why I can't spend alot of money - I'm out of work and such.. Mabye I'll wait on a sub.. Or maybe I'll get the bazooka .... $150 plus installation is fair but the basslink is a bit pricey ($300+).. How much should installation cost? It's a brand new car so I don't want to try to do it myself.. Do I need to get the special wires that they sell (cost me $60 last time at circuit city) or is that just a gimmick (shouldn't the darn thing come with wires)? So many questions.. I wish I was more of a car guy.. All of this is greek to me...

Between the two your really not gunna get much greater preformance of one over the other. HOWEVER by going with the profile/qlogic stuff your getting a system that is possibly upgradable in the future...and by installation you'll already have the wiring availible. With the bazooka tube...you'll have the wiring but I'm guessing its gunna be somewhat half assed cause its nothing too special. The profile amp and subs can also be turned around and sold on ebay when ur ready to upgrade...whereas the bazzoka isnt as impressive when u post the specs 😛
As for special wiring...for $60 its worth it so long as its something like a kit from Ligtining Audio, Streetwires, something of decent strand count and quality in fuses/rca/blocks/etc. And hopefully they will wire ya up with 4 gague at least (for future expansion). It is worth it though at that price. You can get a schoshe kit from Walmart though for ~$20 and I've found their kits to be close to those in quality of wire (the rca/distro blocks in the kit are a diff story)...and really if u can find where the wire pass throughs are in your car...all it takes is some inginuity and a screwdriver to get a sub hidden away.
