I used to buy Bayer products, not anymore

you're an idiot then, just like the OP. the OP's title is ridiculously misleading. have you read the articles he's linked to? i agree with js80; there's not much of a story here...

Its not misleading and your the fvcking idiot

hahaha.. you win!

Wow, I'm boycotting Bayer for life now just for principles... I can't believe a company did that and still put on the face saying they acted ethically...

People died because of it. If they wouldn't treat their own family w/ the drug they probably shouldn't sell it to others... and to less developed countries where they believed they could've gotten away w/ it too... wow. Sometimes I really wish that there is karma or that there is a hell waiting for people like this...

A division of the pharmaceutical company Bayer sold millions of dollars of blood-clotting medicine for hemophiliacs - medicine that carried a high risk of transmitting AIDS - to Asia and Latin America in the mid-1980s while selling a new, safer product in the West.

The Bayer division, Cutter Biological, introduced its safer medicine in late February 1984, as evidence mounted that the earlier version was infecting hemophiliacs with HIV.

Yet for more than a year, it continued to sell the old medicine overseas, prompting a United States regulator to accuse Cutter of breaking a promise to stop selling the product.

By continuing to sell the old version of the life-saving medicine, documents show, Cutter was trying to avoid being stuck with large stocks of a product that was increasingly unmarketable in the US and Europe.

Yet even after it began selling the new product, the company kept making the old medicine for several months more. A telex from Cutter to a distributor suggests one reason: the company had several fixed-price contracts and believed the old version would be cheaper to produce.

Nearly 20 years later, the precise human toll of these marketing decisions is difficult, if not impossible, to document.

ALOHA

P.S. Yes, Yes either way it's old news. But then again, there maybe alot of people that never heard about it 🙁

I heard they smash up puppies to make alleve..........🙁

I'm not buying bayer either..........

I am just baffled that Bayer knew that these products were infected, but chose to deny it and sell it anyway to people overseas only because if they sold it here in the states they would get quite a tongue lashing from the American people. In my opinion $600 million is not enough to compensate for peoples' lives.

Why only the Americans? Isn't Bayer an international company? I think that's unfair.

note: not viewed video yet since I don't have sound at the moment.

German, I thought.
