BayArea folks -- what to do in San Francisco or South Bay

Aside from doing some mad cleaning in the apartment ... what are some places I should my parents?

I probably need 1day to 1/2 day's worth. The other days are pretty much planned out. Hopefully, something that's kinda low-key(slow and relaxing) and not too heavy on the wallet. They won't enjoy if they know that I've spent a lot money on it. 😉

Some suggestions I had were -

0. Fisherman's wharf -- been there, done that.

1. Alcatraz -- one of the standard tourist place, but dunno if my mom would like visiting a prison.

2. Golden Gate park -- maybe, it's nice and relaxing, although driving 45mins. for a park?

3. Giants game -- tickets are a bit expensive and we probably won't stay the whole game. But it would be nice to take the to their first baseball game.

4. Tech museum -- fun place, but I'm not sure if my parents would be bored or not.

Any suggestions you might have would be greatly greatly appreciated!! 🙂

union street - lots of couture shops, good food, nice views and atmosphere. when you are done you can take a 5 block walk down to...

marina green - beautiful views of golden gate, alcatraz, marin. watch the sailboats go by and take a walk. snap token tourist pictures. it's also a great place to fly a kite, sounds cheesy but it actually a lot of fun.

presidio - drive through the presidio and stop at baker beach or china beach (unless it's foggy)

that should take care of a few hours. if i think of anything else, i'll post

Monterey is 45 minutes from Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz is 90 minutes from SF. Also, it sounds like he's nearer to San Jose than SF, which puts Monterey at about 1.5 hours away.

yup, I'm from Santa Clara ... not a lot of stuff to do here in the South Bay. I thought about Monterrey/Carmel but it's going to be 3hrs. roundtrip ...

keep the ideas rolling in ... sounds like picnic+kite is the winner ...
