Do you NEED a 4WD vehicle? I remember when going through the mountains (on my visit to CA this summer), there were a LOT of signs that said put on your snow chains or whatever it is called. Would you recommend that someone moving to the bay area and likes to go skiiing in season buy a 4WD or will a regular 2 wheeler with snow chains be ok. ie. not too much of a hassle when going skiing

If its really snowy GET a 4 wheel
Chains are a hassel to get on and stuff

My old 1997 NIssan couldnnt get up this slope even with chains at Tahoe. Barely made it by gliding and help by pushing.
Also chains make lots of noises.
