I want to take my dad to a shooting range to shoot (we've never shot before), are there places that rent guns and have lessons in the bay area?

It's been a while since i've shot pistol. I used to go to Jackson arms in South San Francisco, they rent out guns. Also, Targetmasters in Milpitas. Call them first if they still rent out guns and offer instructions.

Yeah, Targetmasters is a pretty good range. No double-taps though, and you can't be alone on the range.
Also, they do not allow certain ammo, as it can penetrate the wall and go right into the ballet school next door. But generally you are fine. Guns are rented out, and instructions are offered.
