Bay Area people: plane crashed into I-680?

Sister just came back from the mall in Concord, California, and said traffic was beyond rough because apparently a plane just crashed into I-680. Anyone hear anything about this? I looked on all the news channels but haven't seen anything yet.

There was a brief report prior to The Proganda Conference coming on. A child in a car was injured byut there are no details. From the Chopper photos, it appears to have burned after impact.

Yeah, a small plane tried to make an emergency landing at a nearby strip or field but didn't make it so it was forced to go down on the 680. From the news report it burst into flames upon touching down, then flipped after it hit a car (looked like a dodge caravan from the helicopter footage).

Small plane crash injures at least one in Pleasant Hill

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. - A small Piper Cherokee plane crashed into a car on Interstate 680 on Tuesday, injuring at least one child.

The plane departed from Concord Buchanan Field at 4:50 p.m. and crashed shortly after takeoff, Federal Aviation Administration operations office Bruce Nelson said.

The plane was destroyed in the crash and firefighters from the Contra Costa County Fire Department quickly put out a small blaze on the highway.

One child was taken to a hospital and there was no immediate word on other injuries.

The accident forced some southbound lanes to be closed, causing delays in the rush-hour commute.
