Bay Area peeps...which New Year's party should we hit in SF?

So me and a bunch of friends are going to SF/Tahoe for New Years and we're trying to decide on a party to hit up for NYE. They all cost about $100 to get in, and tables/VIP are another $250 to $500 more (not sure if we'll do that yet).

It seems that the 3 big parties NOT in a stupid hotel ballroom are parties at Roe Restaurant, Dolce ultralounge and the infamous Ruby Skye. I've been to Ruby before, and realized pretty quickly im not into that NYC wanna-be "club kidz" scene that hangs out there. Dolce and Roe are more hip-hop lounges without being thugged out, which is more my scene. But I haven't been to either.

Anyone with experience at these clubs care to shed some light on which New Year's party they recommend?

why not party at Tahoe for NYE?
Well we thought it'd be better in the city. We're going to Tahoe (and Reno?) on Friday and Saturday then coming back to the city on Sunday. Not sure what the options are in Tahoe, whether its more of a "family" place vs. twentysomethings, etc.

it depends on where you go. I don't expect Reno to offer a twentysomething a good party. But South Tahoe should be plenty fun on NYE.
