I remember Battlezone when it came out being well reviewed and had forgotten about it.

(I probably bought it and never played).

Today on Steam I saw that Rebellion released an updated version today.

All the front page player reviews are positive, one mentions the 1998 game as GOTY.

Seems it's worth a loot - on sale the first week $15.99 20% off.

Awesome find! I played the heck out of this game back in the day. It was also the first game where a dedicated GPU showed me the way(Voodoo2). Before that I used CPU rendering. And in battlezone on an AMD K6 about 7-10 FPS.
 
It was a great game that showcased 3d accelerated graphics. The "thumper" action that rolled the ground was great.

I lOooooved driving the big mechs!
