Battlestar Galactica question

I just started watching episode 101 and it seems like i missed a great deal already. Was there some kind of minimovie that came out? And waht was teh story involved in that to get the people to where they are now.

Yeah i think i need to. from what i gathered the cylons pwned the crap out of hte humans and earth and the only humans left are in ships and the battlestar.

that's not earth. earth is only a myth to the humans in the show

Just finished watching the miniseries from Netflix. It does explain a lot.

Watching the miniseries first is a must. Then you have to watch all the shows in order. Otherwise, you're just going to get really confused.
