Anybody else playing this? I just discovered this game after hearing about it on a WoW podcast a couple of weeks ago and decided to give it a try after seeing it listed as the featured game of the week in the Apple app store. I assume console games is the place to post this since it can easily be considered a handheld game and this is where the DS/PSP talk goes.
I've only put a couple of hours into it so far, but I can easily say this is one of my top 3 (if not the top) favorite games on the iOS platform. For those who have played any MMORPG, this game really feels like that kind of battle experience shrunk down into a single-player game. Although roles aren't explicitly stated anywhere I've seen, it's quite obvious that the battle system and roles are taken from popular MMO's like WoW.
Everything is here including tanks, healers, range dps, melee dps, aggro, cooldowns, kiting, etc. You have a roster of many different classes of which you choose 4 to take into battle. From what I've seen thus far, there are at least 7 or 8 different classes, including the barbarian, knight, healer/cleric, bard, wizard, witch, rogue, etc. There may be more classes that I don't remember or haven't seen yet.
The typical RPG fare is here as well, including leveling up your characters and unlocking new talents and abilities. You unlock a new talent every 5 levels, at each point you get to choose between one of two talents. You can only have one or the other and so far I'm really liking the choices since I typically always go back and forth on which one to get, since they both seem useful. You can change your talents at any time in-between battles, so you don't have to worry about choosing the "wrong" one, or you can switch based on a battle you're having trouble with.
The control scheme works very well in my experience. Sometimes it is hard to select the member you want, but once you get used to it and get better at directing your guys, it's a lot better. For example, I'm constantly moving my healer and range dps to be out of the way so I can select my rank or melee dps, but still close enough to receive AoE healing.
All in all, it's a really great game and I recommend it for RPG fans. It is providing a nice challenge for me so far into the second world. I have no idea how long the game is, but there are enough talents to get up to level 40 I believe. Two hours of play has gotten my main 4 guys to level 11 or 12. There also doesn't seem to be any story, but I don't mind that at all, since I probably wouldn't pay attention to it anyway.
