The server browser for Battlefield 2 (and probably other EA games) is currently not listing all the running servers as it should.
The guy that I heard it from blamed it on the release of Crysis Warhead. He said the same EA master servers managed the server lists for most of their games. Said the same thing happened back when they released the Special Forces mod for BF2.
As a work around, you can use Game Monitor to locate a server, then connect via IP.
