i was flippin thru the channel and saw battlefield earth playing....couldn't stand to watch 5 minutes of it.....what the hell is it about?
 
aliens took over earth, humans dig out hundreds year old jet planes, nuclear bombs, learn to use them in days and destroy alien homeworld
 
Watched it on SciFi last night for the first time. Good concept. Poor application.
 
If you're thinking the book is better, well, it is, but only marginally. Overall, it's just plain stupid.
 
The book sucks. I think L Ron Hubbard was being paid by the number of words. I actually thought the movie was good in a Killer Tomatoes way. Travolta was hilarious, hopefully intentionally.
 
Did you even read through the 1st 150 pages?

Battlefield Earth is one of THE best sci-fi book ever written... well if you can sit through the 1st 150 pages of crap.

After that it is just as good as Ender's Game.

Trying to decide which is better between the book and the movie is like trying to decide whether you'd like your genitals set on fire or your teeth knocked in with a bat.
 
am i the only one that was rooting for the bad guy? come on, travolta was cool sh!t in that movie. the whole time i was waiting for travolta to call in the gas drones and blow those whiney little man animals away.

Undoubtably in the top 10 of the worst movies ever made. Not even good to watch from a getting a kick out of watching a bad movie point of view.
 
It's a bad movie, overall. But on the Sci-Fi scale, it's average. There are much, much worse Sci-Fi things to watch. Most of the episodes of ST: Voyager were much bigger steaming piles of crap compared to this moive.

And yes, JT did pwn. 🙂
