Battlefield Bad Company 2 Single player any good??

Hi, got tired of reading the myriad of posts going back to the beta on this game, so could anyone tell me if the single player campaign is any good? I enjoy shooters, but am not that good, so I dont play online that much. I have finished all the COD single player campaigns on normal difficlulty, but pretty much get pwnd online. So therefore I am looking for a game with some online component, but mainly for the single player.

Bad Company 2 is only 20.00 at Target locally, so I am wondering if it is worth it for the single player campaign and maybe occasional online play by myself or a friend who is quite a bit better and more competitive online.

Thanks for any comments.

I have played BF2 online a lot.. got to about rank 36-37. I found the online to be awesome. The single player is definitely not bad, it's not a jaw dropper though. The graphics are pretty awesome too. I would recommend the game to anyone who enjoys FPS's. however the new call of duty black ops I found has a really good single campaign. Although It will cost a lot more then 20. Either way yeah I would recommend bad company 2 if that's what you have your eyes on. good game. check it out on gamespot and IGN while you're at it.

BC2 single player is extremely fun but quite short - and it's just good action, no decent story or characters. SpeedZealot369 is wrong in saying that BLOPS has a better SP.

Thanks for the comments. I have finished Blops on the PC. I actually liked the single player a lot as far as the story was concerned. However, the PC performance was so terrible that I almost wish I had just rented it and played on my friend's xbox 360. Even more disappointing was that the performance was terrible, but the graphics stunk too.
Think I am going to have to start waiting till games are cheaper. Blops was fun, but hardly worth the price unless you play multiplayer a lot.

I don't get all the complaining about the BLOPS performance on PC - I've jacked the details to max and it runs fine. What kinda PC are you trying to run it in?

I thoroughly enjoyed BC2's single player campaign.

I didn't think it was that short, either... maybe I'm slower than most.

The voiceovers are fantastic, too; You really get to know your unit, and actually care about them.

I'd give it a 9/10.

i didn't like the campaign. but i've always been more of a multiplayer gamer. i didn't like the amount of stops for cutscenes (felt pretty sloppy) and it wasn't as clean and polished as say the COD campaigns.

I have an E4500 and 9800GT. Lower end I know, but it ran Modern Warfare fine at max settings. Blops had continual stuttering and occasional pauses no matter what the settings. And I was only running at 1440x900. Many people had this problem according to the forums, but some apparently didnt. It was better after the patches, but still had the stuttering, just not as often.
More frustrating was that Modern Warfare was known for good performance with decent graphics, and to me Blops did not look any better.

You could expound upon this, but it's the correct general statement.

It's ok but as mentioned short. IMHO too short. Don't remember exactly but It sure less than 20 hours probably more like 8-10 hours. I've played multiplayer like 100x times longer by now.

I liked the SP. it's 10x better than the MP anyway.

I think the characters were great and they make funny comments too.

It has a lot of problems for a lot of people. Just consider yourself lucky it runs fine for you. Take a look around the Call of Duty forums if you think the problems are hardware related.

As far as the BC2 single player... It's short and I found it rather bland. I still prefer the SP from MW1, 2, or BLOPS. I wouldn't buy it if you plan on playing SP only, but if you're getting into multiplayer you will get a lot of play time out of it.

I'm thinking of getting BFBC2 as well and the SP campaign is a factor for me.

On a different note, with Vietnam coming out in a few days, do you think Steam or other online retailers will have a special for the package deal. As in the original BFBC2 + Vietnam expansion for say $20?

Single Player campaign was great - I enjoyed it a lot more than Modern Warfare 2 (maybe not saying much...). What sticks out for me is actually the sound effects, specifically gunfire in the distance, which are very convincing.

If you compare BC2 SP to any of the SP on BF 1942 and the like, it's FANTASTIC! 🙂

Seriously, the SP is solid, but not worthy of stand-alone. I enjoyed it. It had a nice story, and, most importantly, it let me get familiar with the guns before I entered the meat-grinder... It served it's purpose just fine.

BC2 will probably stress your system more than MW or MW2 did, just FYI.

I probably wouldn't get BC2 solely for the SP, but it's not bad either - I think the length is actually about right (and considering the story I think it's actually a little longer than it needs to be) and what is there is usually pretty fun.

BC2 has fairly large environments to play in as well as far as SP is concerned, you can take your time and draw out the experience on some of the levels if you want to get your money's worth.

The single player was great, albeit short. However, I would quality over quantity any day of the week when it comes to FPS games these days. Plus, you always have the excellent MP to fall back on once you are done with the SP story.

The campaign is good, but just don't expect it to match up to BO or MW2, or even MW to begin with. Still enjoyable and with very good visuals though.

incoherent is how i would describe the campaign using 1 word.

Yea, but so was MW2. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the BC2 SP is a parody of most of other big name SP campaigns, but it does like to poke fun at MW and MW2. The main thing you are after is a complete mcguffan, just there to make the story move along. The point is to blow things up, shoot things, and generally have a good time.

Here is a hint for you, when you are on the helicopter with the RPG, look down and to the right, that is where that punk is hiding that will grease you if you wait for him to appear in front of you.

I really enjoyed it, but I mostly bought it for the multiplayer, one of the few modern FPSs I can say that about.
