Apparently there is also 10% bing cash back available as well, though I haven't tried ordering yet. This price is sweet but I'm not sure if I'll get around to playing it a lot, especially considering my older system and weak wireless connection.

For the actual mechanics of verification DICE has provided players with two options; one online, one offline.

The offline authentication is intended for those who don't have an internet connection or who aren't comfortable with the idea of an install limit and is a basic disc check system that requires the CD to be in the drive whenever the game is run.

The online option means you only need the disc to install the game, but limits you to only ten concurrent installs. Install credits are automatically refunded, so to speak, whenever the game is uninstalled - though you'll need to be online for both the installation and uninstallation. The online authentication only needs to run once though, then you can run the game for 10,000 days (27 years) before being forced to authenticate again.

is this game any good (for the beta people)? Is it more like the original Bad Company game or is it more like BF2?

$20 is a hell of a deal for a new game.
 
It's pretty fun, my team is really enjoying the beta thus far. We competed in BF2, BF2142, and are still playing COD4. I think it's going to be a nice change.
 
Just checked the SD thread on this. A few people have confirmed (or at least claimed to) with a B&N rep that the UPC doesn't match. Refunds ahoy!
 
Considering they have the game listed on their site under the whole name and "limited edition", and pre-launch I've heard nothing about anything BUT that edition, I'm pretty sure it is a mistake.

It does say "Pre-Order" on the checkout button. You're probably only buying a pre-order reservation.
