Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta Announced (PS3 Only, Gamestop Pre-order Only)

Battlefield Blog just announced the details for the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta. Unfortunately, the beta is only going to be offered on the PS3 for those that pre-order the game through Gamestop retail store or Gamestop.com.

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta will feature the Arica Harbour map, where up to 24 players can compete in one of the game’s four intense multiplayer modes called Rush. This new map displays a superb balance of vehicle and infantry combat, as the American assault unit attacks the Russian army base with full force, advancing further through a beautiful desert town and towards the industrial area in a desperate attempt to overtake the Arica Harbour. Heavy vehicle warfare on the first bases gradually turns into an intense infantry fight as the level progresses, showcasing this best-in-class online war experience.

According to the Playstation Blog there will be a few other ways to obtain beta keys:

Getting access to the beta will differ from country to country, but here are a few specific ways of getting hold of a key:

* We’ll be holding a special limited giveaway right here on the PlayStation Blog (details TBA)
* Pre-ordering the game at participating retailer
* Checking out selected gaming sites such as IGN or GameSpot in North America.

EDIT: Best Buy appears to be a participating pre-order retailer as well.

I can't tell if you're being facetious or not but the reason the PS3 is getting the beta and the 360 is not is because BF:BC2 is already running solidly over Live. DICE has held some media events to show off BF:BC2 and they were running the multiplayer sessions on 360s over Live.

Got my beta code from fileplanet. Played a few games and did pretty well, but it didn't keep track of my stats and unlocks. Oh well.

The game seems pretty polished so far.
