BF4 looks the same as BF3.

they look similar but bf4's destruction is much better more realistic, more jarring, and more detailed . They've improved on reflections, water, textures, and the lighting system if my eyes serve me correctly . looks better than crysis 3 imo

+1.

They have made small improvements. It is essentially BF3 with a few additional effects draped over the top of it. It does look better, but it didn't even come close to getting me excited.

In the old days BF4 would be an expansion to BF3, not a stand alone.

They're using the same models for trucks, jeeps and other stuff. Improving effects doesn't make a new game of it.

Looks like they're holding the tail of Activision making a bunch of games out of the same resources and milking the franchise do death.

Not that I'm against graphical improvement, but to me it would be better if they used every ounce of improvement on physics, destructions and AI

From movement and audio you can tell from the youtube game play it is the FB 2.0 engine modified. It does look like they have improved textures, destruction and made big improvements to facial animations.

Crysis 3 has the lock on facial work though, just incredible. I think for the scale of what Battlefield offers in multiplayer they have the better engine for weighing performance vs visual quality and keeping the game running smoothly while still providing huge maps with tons of activity going on.

You would think they would learn from Bf3 not to make single player game. What was it like only %30 of people played the single player campaign.

The original battlefields didn't have much of a SP campaign. I actually liked the SP story.

I play the campaign first. While the Multiplayer adds to the replay value immensely, the single player campaign is where the devs can show off the beauty of the engine. You can enjoy the game for what it is without worrying about hackers and 13 year olds who are failing school because their mommies and daddies have more involved social lives than their kids.

Yup, I'm on the same mindset as you. I enjoy playing the SP and co-op campaign first before multiplayer. An even better plus is if it is the same calibre of BC1 and 2 type singleplayer.

BFBC2's destruction is better than BF3's? I wasn't aware.

EDIT: And yeah, its BF3 reloaded! Looks the same. Still want to play it though, but they can keep the single player campaign. Give me multiplayer maps with bots instead. If they give us spectating and battlerecorder, then they are forgiven of any sins they may have commited.

Nothing says Badass like Rihanna singing in a BF4 TV commercial.... who do they think they are marketing too?

They know that, just like Chris Brown, when a sane person hears a Rihanna song they get all enraged and want to kill things.

It depends on the person since it is personal preference.

BC2 was full destruction for the houses. BF3 they toned it down where you could only destroy walls. I definitely like a mix of BF3 detail and BC2 full destruction. We shall see what BF4 allows us to do in MP.

I'm not going to get my hopes up too much because I thought the BF3 previews ended up looking way better than the game actually did. But even with this BF4 preview... still seeing too much "plastic". :(

Man, I just want a modern incarnation of Battlefield 2. I don't mind the changes the series is going in but it makes for a very different type of play.

Maybe branch off an IP such as "Battlefield: Tactical" or something.

Wasn't BF3 more CPU dependent than GPU dependent? I'm pretty sure I heard that mentioned a number of times in various reviews that included it in the Benchmark suite. I wonder if BF4 will behave similarly?

I actually thought the graphics looked better than BF3... It's hard to tell since they're all ridiculously good but either way, I want to see what this offers. If it doesn't add in a noteworthy campaign I'll probably wait until it falls to $10 or so and buy it as an "expansion" to the third game. I don't want to see another company following Call of Duty and releasing the same game every year.

You assume they will all make it into BF4 just because its in a pre-order hype video.

Go watch the "Faultline" trailer for Battlefield 3. Half that stuff never even made it into the retail release.

This. When I first saw the faultline trailer for BF3 I was very impressed. Then I played the actual game and found that the texture quality was poor and the game looked nowhere near as good as it did in the trailer. I think the only thing that made it into the final release was the lighting..

I certainly hope it's not the case again this time around, because the BF4 gameplay reveal was VERY impressive. I see a noticeable different in texture quality compared to BF3.

No, it wasn't, it just had more objects that were destructible.
