Battlefield 4/ 5870 problem: solved

I have a Windows 7 test bench rig with a q6600/Ud3P and HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 in it. I just installed BF4 on it to screw around and for whatever reason the video card stays stuck at 400 MHz and the memory doesn't clock up either. Tried a fresh install of the omega drivers with no improvement.

Even the windows OS is relatively new. I tried repairing the game through origin with no luck either.

Other games perform normally. I tried disabling origin in game and ULPS mode via afterburner. Can't figure this out.

Anybody have any ideas?

Solved

setting at the bottom was causing the problem.

: enable video background for this device/browser

Thanks SPBHM for sending me in the right direction.

Funny how a google search turns up nothing.

Are you sure the game is running at full screen mode?

Maybe you have set borderless window or something and the 5870 cannot use max clocks?

Try alt+entering a few times and also changing resolutions.

You can also try making a 1920X1076 resolution in Catalyst and use that instead, so that you know it's full screen.

the only time this happens to me is when I leave some flash video (with hardware acceleration), open (even if paused), or if I'm using more than 1 monitor and the GPU usage is really low.

ok, so your post got me investigating the flash issue and I found this within the BF4 browser settings

as soon as I disabled that setting at the bottom clock rates when up to where the were supposed to be and frame rate sky rocketed... Stupid that settings like that can cause rogue problems.
