Battlefield 3 pre-order $45 AC @ Direct2Drive (25% off code good for anything > $20!)

If this were steam I'd be all over it. Also, 25% off is 45$.

I also don't like this;

"Current Release Date: Fall 2011"

Fall? Ya, I've heard that before. A little vague for my tastes.

Seems the base price was raised and that is why it no longer hits ~40.

Yeah, they originally had the price marked down to $53.99 because it had a 10% pre-order discount built in, so it was 10% + 25% discounts stacked.

Bummer for you guys, but "yay" for me. 🙂

And the 25% off code is good for all orders greater that $19.95.

D2D vs Steam: Will D2D version get timely patches, or can I at least get working ones for this sku in a timely manner, say from the developers?

What's with everyone and steam and thinking they'll get the same deal? I am confused.

We're not waiting for the same deal, we just want it on steam. I'd rather pay more and have it on steam. If I could have the deal AND have it be on steam, all the better.

BRONTO!

Hi,
I sincerely apologize that you’ve been inconvenienced!

In order to protect your card from unauthorized internet purchases our system required a manual review by a human being in a random security sweep. This is a precaution we take as an online, no card present merchant.

I have cleared your account and sincerely thank you for your patience! Please return to making purchases with us as you normally would. No purchase has completed from your previous attempt.

Feel free to contact me with any more questions you might have.

Regards,

Hi Crystal, that was more than an inconvenience, that was a HUGE pain in the butt.
I just went and updated\changed all my CC info and paypal, created a SEPARATE account to access this customer service, posted, checked, tried to purchase again, blah blah.
I might consider making the purchase, but probably not unless you can make it at least $10 cheaper. It seriously wasted an hour of MY time for one of YOUR precautions, with no warning and no immediate communication. I already have a Steam account; this would have been my first d2d.
Please communicate that this is a viciously self-defeating business practice.

I had just submitted my phone number and pressed a button that said "Call me", So how about calling eh?
Before two hours goes by.

Not a company I want to be involved with.

They are polite. +1 for Crystal:

mleejr, yah mon, that was d2d. Fixed post thanks.

Alamat, I think that is true because steam has the whole Pointz thing, it is a different software sku.

Think they are coming out with too many battlefield titles too quickly. Just like EA to milk a franchise into death.

The last actual Battlefield game was 2142 which is 4-5 years old. The Bad Company games are spinoffs, and I wouldn't really count them since the gameplay is different.

i still play bf2142 on occasion and it still has the best multiplayer fps warfare of any game out there in my oppinion. everything else is overly complicated or just lacks in the fast paced fun department. yes, the maps are getting old, but now that everybody knows them inside and out, especially the non-titan maps like gibraltar, they are amazingly fun hours on end. practically everybody has everything unlocked now, too, so the handicap doesn't exist, either.

i look forward to the next real sequal, especially since bf2142 showed the community EA can actually deliver a game that works out of the box. some of you guys might not realize that BF2 didn't have working multiplayer for months after it was released!

Ahh your right it was late at night I get this and the battlefield series mixed together.

I really loved this game. More action than BFBC2-just less graphic candy. Fighting on land and up in the titans! I've returned to BF2 just to have a change. BF2142 does not work on my 64 bit so i cannot load it on my laptop. Its a shame 2142 was a riot!
