You mean like these?
You can buy either game off the shelf or purchase/download it online.

I'll have to go with BF2142, while I'm not exactly a big EA fan, at least they give you a working disc. With Valve you have to register, sign up, create a steam account, and download the rest of the game. I don't want any part of a Big Brother gaming account scheme just to play a stupid game.

Steam is actually very stable, and Valve does a good job of providing free content updates and bug fixes.
Plus, I never have to worry about not having the latest game update.

If you buy the game off the shelf, you don't get working game; it's incomplete.

You still need to create an account to download the rest of the game from Steam.

You also can't legally trade, give away, or sell your game when your done with it.

Stardock owns them both. You get a working disc, plus the ability to download the game if you ever need to.

Are we talking about Valve still or EA?

Amazon.com is selling HL2: CSS for $33.98 with free shipping. Is this is a good price for the Game of the Year edition?

It contains the originial HL too in Source. I have seen this game most retail at around $39.99.
EA's BF 2142 is more like 'Big Brother' for the fact that you don't know when they're examining your computer and what they're looking at. With Valve, you can shut down Steam easily and they don't take up CPU cycles while you're gaming. With BF 2142, I don't think the process is so easy and you're under constant monitorization.Originally posted by: BladeVenom
